How I Transitioned My Skincare Routine During The Winter Months

My name is Eleena Jouras, and I am the Assistant Brand Manager at Suki Skincare. For as long as I can remember, my skin would change like the seasons. During the summer months, my skin would produce excess oils causing break outs. Then in the winter, my skin would get dry, flaky, and inflamed. This is why I always switch up my skincare routine when the seasons change or when my skin is just not cooperating with my current regimen. Always listen to your skin!

During the majority of the year, I tend to use the Suki Skincare Purifying Foaming Cleanser and Concentrated Clarifying Toner as the first couple steps of my skincare regimen. I typically need the oil and blemish fighting ingredients these products have, but in the dry, winter months these products tend to be too drying on my already dehydrated skin.

My current skincare regimen consists of lots of oils, barrier strengthening serums, & ultra-hydrating creams. My regimen also doesn’t just stop at my face. My multi-step regimen is also carried over to the body as well.

Step 1: Cleanse with the Suki Skincare Cleansing Oil on my face. This product contains nourishing oils that melt away makeup and cleanse away impurities, leaving my skin cleansed without stripping it of its natural oils. Sometimes I even leave the Cleansing Oil on my skin for a minute or so before rinsing off. This helps the oils penetrate the skin a little more to give it an extra hydration boost. 1-2x a week I will use our Resurfacing Enzyme Peel after cleansing and before toning. You want to cleanse the skin first to get rid of any surface dirt and oils. Then our enzyme peel helps provide a deep exfoliation of the skin, removing dry skin, clogged pores, texture, etc.

Step 2: I then mist my face with the Suki Skincare Concentrated Strengthening Toner. This helps to strengthen my skin moisture barrier. When your skin moisture barrier is compromised, your skin can become dry, red, and flaky. I make sure to spray this all over my face, neck, and chest.

Step 3: SERUMS! I am a serum junkie. The more the merrier! I typically start with the Hyaluronic Acid Milk Serum to add hydration back into my skin. This serum contains miniHA which is a tiny form of hyaluronic acid that penetrates deeper the skin, leaving it intensely hydrated and smooth. I then follow up with my Vitamin C serum in the AM. Vitamin C contains antioxidants which are essential to keeping the skin strong and healthy. It is best to use Vitamin C at night as it can help ward off free radicals from pollution that can be found in the air. At night, I use our Radical Results Youth Serum which is essentially a natural retinol serum to help prevent fine lines and wrinkles. Another tip, rub your serums into your hands after. Your hands tend to age and dry out the quickest due to constant washing.

Step 4: Now for my favorite products. Our Suki ERA line was designed for women going through menopause. When women hit menopause, their skin starts to lose elasticity, collagen, radiance, hydration, etc. Obviously at the age of 28, I am not experiencing menopause, but to me it’s never too early to start preventative skincare! The Suki ERA Facial Oil and Reviving Face Cream have been lifesavers for me during the winter months.  I start with the Facial Oil and pat it into my skin and then follow up with the Reviving Face Cream. These products contain ultra-hydrating ingredients as well as Bakuchiol, Pomegranate Sterols, & Beech Tree Bud Extract to help keep my skin from premature aging.

Step 5: Body Care! In the shower I cleanse with our Sensitive Cleansing Bar. This not only cleanses the skin, but it provides nourishment and hydration with oils and colloidal oat. Then I use our Exfoliating Body Scrub to exfoliate away dead and dry skin, but also adding moisturization from the oils. We use large natural sugar crystals to help smooth the skin. Lastly, while my skin is still a little wet from the shower, I add on our Hydrating Body Oil. This body oil contains various oils such as sunflower, grapeseed, safflower, and more to provide intense hydration. I use this when my skin is slightly wet to help lock in the extra water and hydration.

There you have it! My 5-step all-over body winter skincare regimen. Try it out and let us know if you love this regimen just as much as I do.
